Travertine
Travertine is also a building material used in conjunction with marble. Travertine quarries are operated in many regions of Turkey such as Denizli, Bucak-Burdur, MUT-Mersin, Sivas.
The material produced is used in the domestic market as blocks, rubble, or as products such as honed – polished travertine, which are processed in factories, or exported to abroad to a large extent.
Marble
Marble is a composition formed by recrystallization of limestone and dolomitic limestones as a result of metomorphism. Their composition consists of 90-98% (calcium carbonate). It contains low content (magnesium carbonate).
The main mineral in marbles consisting of CaCO3 crystals is “calcite”. It can also contain small amounts of silica, silica, feldspar, ironoxide, Mica, fluorine and inorganic substances. Its colors are generally white and grimsy.
Mozaic
Mosaic is also a building material used with marble. Turkey's Denizli, Burdur Bucak, Mersin Mut, travertine quarry is operated in many regions such as Sivas.
The produced material is used in the domestic market as blocks, debris or processed in factories such as sized honed - polished travertine or exported to a large extent abroad.
